We wanted to take some time to discuss the changes that have been happening, both the ones you can see and the ones behind the scenes, plus the reasons behind them. We know this change came with little advance notice, so let’s go through everything properly.
The original Drone-Hacks client was created out of frustration with the lack of innovation in the drone modification world. Back then, development with the existing offering on the market had stagnated and users were left with outdated or unreliable tools. Drone-Hacks was launched by Andreas Makris (Bin4ry) in June 2020 to bring a fresh, stable, and community-driven solution to the scene.
As time went on, DJI dramatically increased its security measures — introducing strong encryption, trust zones, and multiple anti-modification layers — which made developing and maintaining hacks increasingly complex. Despite those challenges, Drone-Hacks continued to thrive thanks to a passionate global community of pilots, developers, and enthusiasts.
In mid-2024, the project transitioned from its original operator, thinkAwesome GmbH, to a new team under DroneWizard s.r.o, which ran the project from here onwards. This period saw many improvements and kept Drone-Hacks alive during a time of major industry change.
Now, as of November 2025, DroneWizard have stepped away from the project entirely due to wishing to focus on other business interests, and all Drone-Hacks intellectual property, infrastructure, and systems have been fully transferred to SkyMod Technologies Ltd, a company owned and operated by me (Cs2000).
This transition gives Drone-Hacks a new, permanent legal and operational home and ensures its continued development well into the future.
Drone-Hacks is now fully operated by SkyMod Technologies Ltd.
Some familiar faces remain, and others have moved on to new ventures — we thank everyone who’s been part of the project along the way. Going forward, Drone-Hacks will continue to operate under UK and international consumer and data protection laws, ensuring a strong foundation for stability, compliance, and customer trust.
During the transfer, we’ve been busy migrating all infrastructure — servers, systems, payment providers, and databases — into the new environment. This required temporarily pausing sales and license processing while ensuring all systems were safely reconfigured under SkyMod Technologies Ltd.
We’re pleased to confirm that as of 10th November 2025, sales have resumed, and Drone-Hacks is officially back online under the new ownership.
There may still be some small remnants of the previous setup (like outdated references or links). Please bear with us — everything will be tidied up shortly. If you find any though, log a support ticket at support.drone-hacks.com in-case we've missed them!
All customer information has been securely transferred to SkyMod Technologies Ltd. Your data continues to be used only for its original purposes:
Our updated Privacy Policy now lists SkyMod Technologies Ltd as the data controller and ensures full compliance with both UK GDPR and EU GDPR.
If you already have a Drone-Hacks account, you don’t need to re-register or re-claim your licenses — they remain fully valid and active.
If you STILL haven't migrated your licenses from the old drone-hacks (operated by ThinkAwesome), Right now, the most important thing for you to do is to create an account on the new website. Once you are logged in, you will see a message telling you to migrate your licenses from the old Drone-Hacks system. Please follow this process to ensure that your licenses are available in our systems.
The migration process will be available up until December 2025 so please ensure you have migrated your licenses before this date otherwise they will be lost permanently
Our team is hard at work fixing bugs and restoring full functionality, so please bear with us during this time. If you do need help, you can log a support ticket by visiting the main website, scrolling to the bottom and filling out the contact form. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible, but please understand that due to the change there are a large volume of tickets and our usual response times may be slightly longer until everything settles down.
With the migration complete, the focus for the coming days will be on:
As always, we’ll keep you updated on our Wiki and Discord as things progress.
A huge thank-you to everyone who’s supported Drone-Hacks through its different stages — from the early days under thinkAwesome, through the DroneWizard era, and now into its new chapter under SkyMod Technologies Ltd.
Your patience and loyalty have allowed us to make this transition properly and securely. Drone-Hacks is now on a stronger footing than ever, and we’re excited for what’s to come.
I (Cs2000) would like to say a massive thank-you to Pat and the other team members who’ve done so much since taking over in 2024 but who have decided to step away. Your presence in the scene and stewardship of Drone-Hacks will be missed, but life moves on for all of us and I wholeheartedly respect the decisions you have made.
Stay tuned — the best is yet to come.
— The Drone-Hacks / SkyMod Technologies Team
